Public adjusters in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
This page covers Bloomfield Hills and Bloomfield Township. The median owner-occupied home is worth about $948,000 in the city and $605,000 in the township, and recent fires have badly damaged or destroyed houses of 7,000 to 10,000 square feet. On homes this size, what a claim pays depends on how completely the custom construction and the contents get counted.
AdjustFair works only for the policyholder, from our Ferndale office about ten miles down Woodward. We read the policy, document the full loss, price the repair the way a contractor would have to build it, and put that number in front of the insurance company with the proof behind it.
Where claims here get underpaid.
On Bloomfield claims, three kinds of loss do most of the damage, and each has a familiar way of being undercounted.
- Fire in a large custom home. In October 2020 a 7,000 square foot home near Lahser and Quarton in Bloomfield Township was a total loss, and in October 2023 a house of at least 10,000 square feet off Lone Pine Road in Bloomfield Hills burned until its roof collapsed. Rebuilding homes like these means pricing the actual stone, millwork, windows and mechanical systems, not builder-grade substitutes. The contents can run to thousands of items, and they get undercounted when nobody walks every room and closet.
- Water in finished lower levels. On June 25, 2021 more than four inches of rain fell on the southwest part of Bloomfield Township, and police took 275 calls that evening. When water comes up through a drain, the township checks only the public main, so a short plumber's report on the house lead often decides whether the loss is paid as a limited sewer backup or treated differently under the policy. Drying logs, photos and moisture readings from the first week matter just as much.
- Trees through the roof. The township's large lots sit among woodlands and hills, and storms here bring trees down: on July 7, 2021 winds took down more than 40 power lines, and the February 2023 ice storm left a quarter to half inch of ice across metro Detroit. When a tree comes through a roof, the insurance company often pays for the roof and the visible ceiling and declines to open the walls, where cracked framing and damaged wiring can sit.

Called two days after the fire, and it never needed appraisal.
A kitchen grease fire put smoke through the house. We were engaged two days after the loss, and the scope was settled by negotiation without appraisal.
Questions we get here.
Do you work in Bloomfield Township as well as the city of Bloomfield Hills?
Yes. Much of Bloomfield Township carries a Bloomfield Hills mailing address, and the homes, lots and losses look much the same on both sides of the line. We handle the claim the same way in either place, from reading the policy through the final payment.
How do you handle contents in a large Bloomfield home?
Room by room. On a big house the contents are often worth as much attention as the structure, and a quick list misses closets, storage, lighting, rugs and art. We build an itemized inventory with descriptions, quantities and replacement prices, and use photos, receipts and old listing pictures to support it. What the policy pays for each item depends on its terms.
How quickly can someone get to Bloomfield Hills?
Bloomfield Hills is about ten miles up Woodward from our Ferndale office. Call the number on this page and someone will tell you what to protect and photograph now, and when an adjuster can meet you at the house to start documenting the loss before cleanup changes it.
