Public adjusters in Davison, Michigan.
In March 2024 a fire at the Davison Village strip mall on M-15 destroyed one store and left smoke in the businesses beside it. Nearly three in four homes in the City of Davison were built between 1950 and 1979, and shared walls and older framing carry smoke and water further than most estimates allow.
AdjustFair works only for the policyholder, from our office on Flushing Road, about 11 miles west of Davison. We read the policy, document the full loss, price the repair the way a contractor would have to build it, and put that number in front of the insurance company with the proof behind it.
Where claims here get underpaid.
Three kinds of loss stand out on Davison claims, in the city and the township alike, and each has its own way of coming in short.
- Smoke in the unit next door. At Davison Village, a Rite Aid, a Domino's and a nail salon took smoke damage from a fire that never reached them, and in March 2026 the bike shop beside a burned Davison barbershop closed for smoke. Smoke in a neighboring unit is often written as a wipe-down, when it has moved through shared ceilings and ductwork into stock, fixtures and finishes. The cleaning scope, the inventory and any testing all need to be on paper.
- Frozen and burst pipes in mid-century homes. The city's median home was built in 1968, and original supply lines with a finished basement below mean one split pipe, or an upstairs tub, toilet or sink that overflows through the ceiling below, can soak two levels. Water claims are largely settled in the first week, on drying logs, moisture readings and photos, so that record has to start before the cleanup crew leaves.
- Fire in the township's larger homes. The median owner-occupied home in Davison Township is valued at about $231,700, against $181,200 in the city. When a bigger home burns, custom cabinets, trim and flooring tend to get priced at builder grade, and a contents list written from memory skips whole closets and rooms. Every room needs to be inventoried and priced item by item at what it costs to buy new today.

Questions we get here.
My Davison business has smoke damage from a fire next door. Which policy pays?
Usually your own policy is the first place to look, depending on its terms. Smoke damage to your space, stock and fixtures can be claimed on it whether or not the fire started there, and the other unit's insurance company may also be involved. Keep the fire report, photograph everything before cleaning, and do not let the inventory be written from memory.
A tree came through the roof of our Davison home. What should we do first?
Keep everyone out of the rooms below, get the tree off and the roof tarped, and save every receipt, since those costs are usually part of the claim. Photograph ceilings and walls before anything is patched. The insurance company often writes a roof repair and nothing more, when a tree that heavy can crack rafters and pull wiring inside the walls.
